Morning Minute 6.24.25

“Big Projects Require Bold Leadership”
(7 steps to move from complexity to completion)

As the leader, you've accepted responsibility for a complicated project with high-stakes objectives. Success will require coordination across multiple departments, each performing different functions—but all working toward the same goal.

How would YOU proceed?

Let’s break it down into 7 clear, progressive steps:

1. Accept you can’t do it alone.
Big projects demand
collaboration. You must rely on others for execution and for success.

2. Set the vision.
Define what
winning looks like. Because people interpret success differently, make your objectives visual—use charts, video, and examples to create share your vision.

3. Choose the right team leaders.
Select leaders who can execute with
clarity and with influence. Assign each a clear objective aligned with the larger goal.

4. Co-create and stress-their the plan.
Have each leader develop their strategy. In a group session, share and challenge each other’s plans. This step identifies potential issues and
reinforces the teamwork necessary for success.

5. Train before launching.
Success is rooted in
preparation. Practice the necessary skills before execution begins.

6. Launch—and adjust.
Even great plans need pivots.
Monitor your team’s progress making real-time adjustments until your success is achieved.

7. Conduct an after-action review.
What worked? What didn’t work? What will we do better next time? This step helps your leaders grow—and positions them for greater responsibility.

MORNING MINUTE CHALLENGE:

Conduct an after-action review with your leadership team on a recent project. Capture what was learned, and use that insight to coach your leaders before your next project.
