Morning Minute 3/21/25:

“Finding Your Focus: Are You In The Field?”

In the movie. The Legend of Bagger Vance, a local Savannah golfer and WW1 veteran, Rannulph Junah, competes in a tournament alongside legends Walter Hagan and Bobby Jones. Bagger Vance, who is caddying for Junah, tells Junah to watch Jones carefully.

As they observe, Jones becomes completely focused – blocking out the crowd, distractions, even his own doubts. He lines up the shot and launches a perfect 315 yard drive, straight down the fairway. Bagger explains to Junah that Bobby Jones is “in the field,” so immersed in what he is doing that nothing else exists. His concentration is absolute, his actions instinctive. He isn’t thinking about success or failure – he is simply performing at his best!

What Does It Mean to be “In the Field?”

Being “In the field” means fully engaging in something you excel at and enjoy so much that time, distractions, and even your surroundings fade away. It is the state of effortless focus, deep fulfillment, and peak performance!

For me, I am “in the field” when leading a team of well-trained, highly motivated professionals to accomplish goals others believe are impossible. It is watching team members grow in skill and confidence – then go on to lead teams of their own. I am “in the field” when I help others succeed, both personally and professionally.

What Puts You “In the Field?”

Ask yourself these questions:

• What do you love doing so much that you would do it for free?

• What activity absorbs you so completely that time seems to stand still?

• When do you feel most energized, focused, and fulfilled?

Many people experience this state in different ways. For some, it happens while creating music, writing, or designing. Others find it in athletic competition, solving complex problems, or mentoring others. Some even experience it in nature, captivated by breathtaking landscapes.

Here Is the Key to Happiness and Success:

If you are searching for fulfillment, start by identifying what puts you “in the field!” Then make it a priority to immerse yourself in that experience as often as possible.

When you do, you won’t just feel productive – you’ll feel truly alive!

And you will be…

“In The Field?”

That is today’s Morning Minute.
