“The SECRET To Making CONFIDENT Decisions!”

(Learn the 4 steps to making confident decisions)

In business, and in life, leaders must make big decisions with confidence, clarity, and conviction. Here’s a short story that shows how a clear method makes ALL the difference.

While managing an auto dealership in South Carolina, our team geared up for a big Memorial Day Weekend sale. We had the inventory, the staff, and the systems in place. But as we finalized our advertising plan, several local media reps warned us: “Most people leave town that weekend—reschedule if you want results.” I paused. Reviewed the plan. And, considered my past success with Memorial Day sales. And then made the call to stay the course. It became the most successful sales event of that Summer.

That decision followed a simple, effective framework—one you can use for ANY big decision:

1) Know Your Goal

You wouldn’t start a trip without a destination. We pictured success: 75 cars sold during the event, plus 25 more from follow-up prospects. We ended with 79 sold that weekend and 16 more the next month. Be bold! Be realistic! And, clearly define your goal.

2) Work the 4 Ps: People, Process, Product, Promotion

Start with your team: Are the right people trained, motivated, and aligned? Review your processes—can they deliver under pressure? Make sure the right products are available in the right amounts. Only then do you design a promotional plan to bring it all together.

3) Set Timelines and Milestones

Big goals need checkpoints. We broke ours into daily targets: Thursday 8, Friday 15, Saturday 22, Monday 30. The actual results? 9, 14, 23, and 33 for a total of 78 sold that event. These benchmarks kept the team focused and energized all weekend.

4) Execute and Adjust

Even the best plan needs action. On Monday—the final day—a morning downpour left us at just 3 cars sold by 1:00 p.m. We regrouped, refocused, and rallied. By the end of the day, we’d sold 30 more.

Final Thought: When you need guidance, be careful who you ask—everyone has a motive. Be sure to keep that in mind. I seek direction from God, trusting His purpose over my preferences. That keeps my decisions in alignment with His purpose…which is greater than results alone.
