Reader: Our focus determines not only what we achieve - but who we become... (Click the image below for the video version) Morning Minute 7.14.26 We Are…What We Focus On Our focus determines not only what we achieve—but who we become. How do you measure success? Is it by your paycheck, your position, your possessions...or by something much greater? Most of us spend years pursuing success, but we rarely stop to ask whether we're pursuing the right things for the right reasons. Bob Buford, in his book Halftime, observed that many people spend the first half of life making a living and the second half making a difference. Early in life, we often focus on wealth and power. As we mature, many discover that people and influence become far more meaningful measures of success. Consider these four pursuits: Wealth provides both opportunities and resources. The question is not how much wealth we accumulate, but how we use it. Power gives us the ability to change circumstances. Used wisely, it serves others. Used selfishly, it serves only ourselves. People are at the heart of every meaningful endeavor. They give success its greatest meaning. Influence is the lasting impact that our character, example, and service have on others. Now, ask yourself:
Wealth, power, people, and influence are all valuable. None of these are inherently good or bad. They simply magnify the character of the person who possesses them. The true measure of success is not how much we accumulate, but how many lives are improved because we lived with purpose. We become what we consistently pursue. We are what we focus on. So, choose your focus wisely. And remember, Information without transformation is wasted energy! Keep Learning! Keep Leading!
