Reader: Your actions and your character speak much louder than what you say! Morning Minute 10.24.25 In my book, WORK WITH ME NOT FOR ME, you will find the 6 roles of a leader: Mentor: you help those whom you lead to improve and to achieve their full potential. Organizer: you are to arrange the 4 Ps: people, processes, products, and promotion to achieve the team’s success. Instigator: you get people and projects started, keeping them on track until completed. Disciplinarian: you set standards, ensuring they are understood and maintained. Cheerleader: you encourage team members by celebrating individual & team wins. Teacher: your regular instruction is necessary for continuous staff improvement. These roles are tempered by your character. Character is defined as a person’s moral and ethical qualities. Your character controls who you are, how you communicate with others, and the actions you display as a leader. For instance; if you, the leader, expect people to be punctual, to dress in the proper attire or uniform, and to conduct themselves professionally, you must display those qualities in yourself. If you expect excellence, you must display excellence. If you require continuous improvement, you must continue your own professional education. Simply stated, you must be a leader who is worth following! Most of us have labored under a bad leader. My first manager in the restaurant business was more interested in his social life than his team’s performance. Another manager was constantly tardy, expecting the staff to cover for him. And another was semi-competent in the dining room but refused to learn kitchen functions. Then, there was my first auto dealer. He was someone that the team wanted to follow. He was competent and expected competence. He was professional and demanded professionalism. And, he was helpful and honest with customers and staff alike. His actions and his character set the standard for the team. B. G. Fuller was the perfect leader to mentor me as I strove to be more, do more, and earn more. Reader: Understanding what truly drives those who seek to lead. Morning Minute 10.17.25“The Pursuit of Power, Wealth, & Influence?”Most of us were taught that people enter politics to serve others — to help the poor, the struggling, or the forgotten. Yet, when we observe how many politicians behave once in office, those noble explanations often fall short. In a free economy, individuals can try, fail, and try again — each time learning, growing, and creating new opportunities. But that same...
