Reader: A timeless lesson in responsibility, choices, and discipline! Morning Minute 10.10.25 “Raising Tomorrow’s Leaders, One Morning at a Time!” The 5-year-old boy was the youngest of twelve children. Each morning his mother would gently wake him saying, “Good morning, son. Time to get up! It’s going to be a good day today.” He would jump up, run to the kitchen, and sit on his favorite stool talking to his mother as she made breakfast and packed lunches for his siblings. Every morning truly was a good day. Then one chilly November morning, his mother showed him how to wash turnip greens. Outside, in the cold, they used three metal tubs—one for the freshly picked greens, one to wash off the dirt, and a third for rinsing before cooking. The icy water made his small hands ache, and the job seemed to take forever. The next day, when his mother called, “Good morning, son! Time to get up—it’s going to be a good day today,” he rolled over and said, “No, it’s going to be a bad day today.” Without a word, his mother went about her normal routine. Hours later, he came to the kitchen asking for breakfast. She calmly said, “No, son. You said it would be a bad day today—and it will be a bad day all day long.” She sent him back to bed, and he stayed there until the next morning. The following day, when she woke him with her familiar words, he jumped up, ran to the kitchen, and had breakfast just like every day before his “bad day.” Lessons from this true story:
