Morning Minute 6.23.26

The Lasting Influence of a Loving Father Fathers’ relationships with their children help create success in their lives.

Children build their future on the foundation of their relationship with their father.

Children learn more from what fathers do…than what fathers say.

Why are fathers so important in the lives of their children?

Because children often learn how to live their lives by watching how their fathers live theirs.

Boys learn how to become men by observing their father's character, discipline, work ethic, and treatment of others.

Girls learn what to expect from the men in their lives by watching how their father treats them, their mother, and those around him.

Both learn responsibility, integrity, faith, perseverance, and love from a father's example.

A loving father provides encouragement, direction, and stability. His presence helps create a foundation upon which children can build successful lives.

A passive father, whether physically absent or emotionally disengaged, leaves a void that others often struggle to fill.

A toxic father can create wounds that may take years to heal and can affect how children view themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.

The good news is that every father has the opportunity to become a stronger, more positive influence in the lives of his children.

Here are six simple ways to begin:

  1. Tell them you love them. Children never outgrow the need to hear those words.
  2. Spend quality time with them. Your presence communicates their value.
  3. Listen before you speak. Sometimes children need understanding more than advice.
  4. Be authentic and transparent. Let them see both your strengths and your struggles.
  5. Show affection freely. A hug, a smile, or a hand on the shoulder communicates love in powerful ways.
  6. Pray with them and for them. Teach them by example how to seek God's wisdom and guidance.

Long after your children forget your job title, your income, or your many accomplishments, they will remember how you treated them.

They will remember your love.

They will remember your presence.

They will remember your example.

Be the father they need today so they can become the adults they are capable of becoming tomorrow.

And remember:

Information without transformation is wasted energy!

That is today's Morning Minute.

In the government's effort to provide for the poor in our country, the GREAT SOCIETY was created by our federal government in 1965. Unfortunately, in one of the negative results of this effort to reduce poverty, the government replaced fathers as the primary bread winners for poor families. Instead of promoting the role of fathers, this program replaced them by incentivizing unmarried women to have their children outside of marriage or face the loss of assistance from the government. The end result that we see today is that poverty has not been reduced, and children are growing up in households with no fathers. To truly assist in reducing both poverty and crime, the role of responsible fathers must be reinstated. It is well documented that children growing up in families with both a father and a mother have a exponentially greater chance of children becoming successful adults.

I would love to hear you thoughts on this. Please reply to this message or contact me at lab@larryonlearning.com.
