Who are You Striving to Become?

(Is who you are today moving you closer to, or farther away, from the person you want to be?)

If you truly want to become a winning leader, coach, or business owner, certain qualities must guide your actions every day.

Let’s look at several of them.

1st: Character
Be the person others want to follow. Your character is revealed through both
your words and your actions. So, be the change you are trying to create.

2nd: Discipline
Doing what is right, even when it is uncomfortable, strengthens your character and sets the example for others. Discipline builds the life that emotions cannot.

3rd: Faith
When life becomes difficult, faith gives you something to hold on to — Someone or something greater than yourself.

4th: Resilience
Storms and downturns do not last forever. The ability to recover quickly from adversity makes you stronger and better prepared for the next challenge.

5th: Continuous Learning
Feed your mind. What you study strengthens your resolve and expands your ability to be more, do more, and achieve more.

6th: Analysis and Communication
Strong leaders think clearly and communicate effectively. Planning, problem solving, and goal setting require the ability to analyze situations, data, and people. And to share solutions so others can see themselves succeeding.

7th: Gratitude
Be thankful for the opportunities you receive and the people who help you along the way. Gratitude makes success
much more meaningful.

These are lifelong qualities. Strong leaders do not simply possess them — they continually develop them.

Recognize that the person you are becoming determines the results you will achieve.

And remember:

Information without transformation is wasted energy.

Who Are You Striving to Become?

That is today’s Morning Minute.

"Accept - Analyze - Adapt!" We all need a process for handling unexpected things that we can't control. That process involves accepting the fact that we are not in control. We then must analyze what we are experiencing by asking questions like what? who? why? when and where? Then we can adapt in order to be ready next time. Sometimes life gives you a moment to practice all 3!

"Perfection or Direction; Which Will You Choose?" Success often depends on knowing when to Refine and when to Begin. There is a time for perfection and a time for direction. Discover several examples of the difference with George McClellan and Steve Jobs using perfection, and Ulysses Grant, Jeff Bezos, and George Patton using direction. Learn how that effective leaders use both in their pursuit of success.

"Under Extreme Pressure, How Will YOU Respond?" Same Pressure - Different Posture - Different Results! Discover 2 different true stories of catastrophes: one with British Petroleum and the other with Johnson & Johnson. Learn how the manner in which these 2 leaders handled these 2 major losses created either failure or lasting success for their companies.

"We Like You But You're Over-Qualified!" How do react when in an interviewer claims that you are "Over-Qualified?" It usually doesn't mean what you think it means. It is not rejection...it is a perceived risk. Discover the 3 steps to turning that statement from an interviewer into a serious discussion about how you are the best person for the job.

"Self-Esteem vs Self-Control!" Why feeling good and being good must work together for young adults to be more, do more, and achieve more. Discover how that self-esteem and self-control are different. Learn how they are both required and must work together for an individual to reach their his/her full potential.

Reader: What do you do when life throws you a curveball? Morning Minute – 3.13.26 Accept. Analyze. Adapt. (Sometimes life gives you a moment to practice all three.) Cold water… straight to the chest at 6:30 this morning. That’s how our walk with Gigi, our 8-year-old Schnauzer, began today. A sprinkler suddenly blasted me as we passed a yard. I was startled—and instantly soaked. For a moment I had a decision to make: Go inside and change… or simply keep walking. That small moment reminded me...

Finding the human element to get the most from AI

Reader: Morning Minute – March 11, 2026 I Apologize for My Mistake! Good morning. Earlier this week I shared a graph from research by Anthropic to illustrate how artificial intelligence is beginning to change the way work gets done. After reflecting on my comments, I realized that my analysis missed the most important insight in the data. Here is that chart again: In my earlier message, I suggested that the data might allow organizations to replace some outside CRM services by bringing those...
